Event Description

Why plan an ordinary, time-bound date for this Valentine's Day?

Time travel with us back to 1959 for the Golden Age Orchestra's Valentine's Day Concert. You'll time travel back to Madmen era for an extraordinary evening of music, dance, and romance.

The Live Music Capital Foundation and Isaac Pena present an evening of Isaac's special musical arrangements from the Great American Songbook--Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Edith Piaf, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and more. We'd like to share with you some of our rehearsal music and thoughts.

The 25-piece Golden Age Orchestra will perform Pena's arrangements of these classics accompanying Austin vocalists Gina Chavez, John Pointer, Robert Kraft, Gina Chavez, Lian Amber, Suzanna Choffel,Juliana Sheffield, Luis Angel Ibanez, and Ginger Leigh.

"I love the music from that era, but those arrangements just didn't exist anywhere," says Pena. He has spent the last two years transcribing the orchestral arrangements for our enjoyment that evening. Pena has been an Austin musician since the 90's and garnered acclaim with Trio Los Vigilantes
"I play concerts all the time, all over the world. It's refreshing to participate in such a special event--and big production," says vocalist John Pointer.

The orchestra will include 25 veteran members of the Austin music scene, from the Symphony, Opera, and Ballet pit orchestras to some of the best jazz musicians in the city.
Dress for a romantic, nightclub evening (hats invited), and BYOB.
